Residential reminders: senior, dining surveys, waste roundups

Senior survey

The Claremont Senior Program is seeking feedback on what new and upcoming events and programs they would like to see implemented. The survey is at surveymonkey.com/r/T3N92K7.

Waste roundup

As part of its bulk item collection program, the City of Claremont collects electronic waste at the request of residents through the community services department. The department also offers a free, curbside used motor oil collection program. Call (909) 399-5431 to schedule a pickup.

A sharps collection program for Claremont residents is ongoing at the City Yard, 1616 Monte Vista Ave., Claremont. Sharps must be in an approved, sealed container and can be unloaded from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Empty containers are available for pickup.

The Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave., and Lowe’s Home Improvement, 1659 W. Foothill Blvd., Upland, accept common household batteries. For details call the library at (909) 621-4902 or Lowe’s at (909) 982-4795.

Local Home Depot and IKEA stores typically offer retail takeback programs for select compact fluorescent lights, excluding long and oversized bulbs.

Find local facilities that accept used paint by visiting paintcare.org.

For additional information, call the community services department at (909) 399-5431.

Dining survey

Originally, results from a recent public Claremont Al Fresco survey were to be disclosed during the February 14 Claremont City Council meeting. However, select restaurant owners requested a switch to February 28 due to the Valentine’s Day holiday. Survey results will be presented to the Claremont City Council at its 7 p.m. February 28 meeting, where it’s anticipated the council will decide whether or not to implement a permanent outdoor dining program.

For more information call (909) 399-5454 or (909) 399-5321, or email kwand@ci.claremont.ca.us.
