MONDAY CONCERTS IN THE PARK
Co-sponsored by the city of Claremont and the Kiwanis Club of Claremont, everyone is invited to the Monday night concerts in the park. This year’s series begins Monday, July 9 and continues through September 3. Concerts are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. but arrive early with a picnic or purchase something yummy from the Kiwanians’ grill. Concerts are at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd. The Monday summer line-up is as follows:
—July 16: Hit Me ‘90s
—July 23: The Fab 5
—July 30: The Silverados
—August 6: Night Blooming Jazzmen
—August 13: The Ravelers
—August 20: Michael Ryan & Friends
—August 27: Suavé
—September 3: The Answer
MOVIES IN THE PARK
The Claremont Police Department sponsors family-friendly movies in the park on summer evenings. Each week features a new movie at a different location. Film titles and locations are:
—Tuesday, July 10: Spark: A Space Tail at Blaisdell Park, 440 S. College Dr.
—Tuesday, July 17: The Emoji Movie at June Vail Park, Grand Avenue and Bluefield Drive
—Tuesday, August 7: Despicable Me 3 at Memorial park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd. This is National Night Out with In-N-Out burgers. The Police Department has a limited amount of free tickets available for pick-up at the police department (570 W. Bonita Ave.) Tickets are for Claremont residents only and the limit is four tickets per address (must show proof of residency).
CHILDREN’S CONCERT
—Wednesday, July 25: The Happy Crowd will perform a free concert from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Shelton Park on the northeast corner of Bonita and Harvard in the Village.
FRIDAY NIGHTS LIVE
Sponsored by the Claremont Chamber of Commerce, Friday Nights Live runs through October from 6 to 9 p.m. Live music will be performed in the Public Plaza, 101 N. Indian Hill; Chamber, 205 Yale Ave.; City Hall, 225 Second St.; and Shelton Park at Bonita and Harvard. The summer schedule is listed below.
—Friday, June 29: Amanda Castro Band at Laemmle plaza; Ana Maria de la Cruz at the chamber; Mohave Beach Band at Shelton Park; and Daniel Harmon at city hall.
—Friday, July 6: Squeakin’ Wheels at Laemmle plaza; Los Whateveros at the chamber of commerce; Scott Middleton Group at Shelton Park; and Randy Miller at city hall.
—Friday, July 13: Amazing Tone Benders perform classic rock at the Laemmle plaza; Larry and Rhonda Jackson/Small Town Magic perform folk/blues at the chamber; The Dogs at Shelton Park; Mike’s Guitar World at city hall.
—Friday, July 20: Harmony Sisters & the Little Big Band at Laemmle plaza; Marimba Tropical at the Chamber; Dynamite Dawson at Shelton Park; Outerwave Surf Band at city hall.
—Friday, July 27: Blues & Fries at Laemmle plaza; Mojave Beach Band at the chamber; Nomads at Shelton Park; Technopagan at city hall.
