CEF summer class to perform Disney’s Aladdin Kids

Local students in fourth through 10th grades will perform Disney’s Aladdin Kids as part of the SLICE Theatre Experience class.

Performances take place at the Claremont High School theater on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

For the past few weeks, students have been learning the art of musical theatre and stage performance as they memorized lines and belted out musical numbers under the direction of workshop directors, who are all alumni of the Claremont High’s theatre program led by theatre director Krista Carson Elhai.

The entire production has been a community effort with Carly Sanden and Dylan Corliss, 2017 CHS alumni, serving as musical director and director for the show. Taylor Gendreau, 2008 CHS alumna, is the technical director. The scenic designers, Lucy Davis and Kaylin Anderson, are 2017 CHS alumni and are back to help paint the set. Mark MacKenzie, an Upland teacher, donated his time building a palace and market place to transform the CHS theater into Agrabah, the magical city in Aladdin.

“Having all these alumni come together to create a production for the Claremont community at the CHS theater is a testament to Krista Elhai and the love that she instills in all her students for theater,”?Jennifer Parker, SLICE co-administrator, shared.

The CHS theater is located at 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd. Tickets are $8 presale online at supportcef.com/aladdin or $9 at the door. For information, call CEF at (909) 399-1709.
