League of Women Voters appoints interim executive director

The League of Women Voters of California recently announced it has appointed Helen Hutchison as its interim executive director as it seeks a permanent leader in 2025.

“I’m honored to step into this role once again and to support the incredible work of our staff, volunteers, and community partners,” wrote Hutchison, who begins her second stint as the league’s interim leader, in a statement. “The League has always been a force for positive change, and I am committed to maintaining our momentum as we prepare for the next chapter of leadership at the LWVC.”

Hutchison has been member of the league for more than 50 years and has served on its board of directors, including as its president.

“Her steady leadership and proven ability to navigate transitions will ensure that the League remains focused on its work to protect our democracy and Californians through the challenging times we are living,” wrote Board President of the League of Women Voters of California Chris Carson in a statement.
