Obituary: Elaine Rodriguez

Great-grandmother, local elementary school teacher

Longtime local elementary schoolteacher and beloved grandmother Elaine Marsha Rodriguez, 87, died peacefully on January 14, 2018.

She was born to Stefan and Eva Hosmanek on December 27, 1930, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

She spent her entire working career as a elementary school teacher in the Ontario/Montclair School District, where she met her future husband, Manuel Rodriguez.

The couple were married on May 7, 1955, a union that would last for 31 years, until Mr. Rodriguez’s death.

Ms. Rodriguez is survived by her son, Steve Rodriguez and his wife, Judy, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Marybeth Rodriguez and her husband, Dave Parkinson, of Lewiston, Idaho; granddaughter Kristen Ewals-Strain and her husband Brandon, of Greeley, Colorado; two wonderful great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Daphney Ewals-Strain, and many more family and loved ones.

A celebration of life is planned for 10 a.m. on Monday, February 26 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 435 N. Berkeley Ave., Claremont, with a lunch reception following at Claremont Manor Hall, 650 W. Harrison Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Euclid School Scholarship Fund at euclidschools.org, or by check mailed to The Euclid Schools, 1120 S. Euclid Ave., Ontario, CA 91762.
