Tuesday, January 28
La Verne PD called Claremont police early in the morning to inform them they had Upland resident Miguel Moreno, 33, in custody, and a records check showed he was wanted in relation to a December 2024 residential burglary in the 1600 block of Akron Place in Claremont. Claremont officers picked up Moreno from LVPD at 1:06 a.m. and booked him at CPD on a felony burglary charge. He was held in front of his January 30 appearance at Pomona Superior Court, where Claremont police report the charge was reduced to misdemeanor loitering and he was released.
Wednesday, January 29
Police responded to 42nd Street Bagel, 225 N. Yale Ave., at 7:47 p.m. on a missing backpack call. After an investigation, police located the backpack in the possession of a 31-year-old unhoused man in the 2300 block of N. Towne Avenue in Pomona. The man was arrested for felony grand theft, booked at the Claremont station, and later released with a citation to appear in court. The backpack was returned to its owner.
Thursday, January 30
La Verne resident Gregorio Muro, 40, was stopped by police for equipment violations at 2:10 a.m. near Syracuse Drive and Towne Avenue. Following field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. Muro was booked at CPD, held for detoxification, and released with a citation.
Police were called to the 500 block of Wayland Court at 10:44 p.m. on reports of someone taking packages from homes in the area. Arriving officers spoke with Jimmy Mejia, 36, of San Dimas. A records check revealed a felony San Bernardino County warrant, and he was arrested. He was booked at the Claremont jail and later taken to West Valley Detention Center, where he was held pending a virtual post-release community supervision hearing on February 5.
Saturday, February 1
At 1:05 a.m., police pulled over Lisa Barrera, 45, of La Verne, for moving violations near the Claremont/Pomona border at Bonita and Carnegie avenues. After field sobriety tests she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, booked at CPD, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Sunday, February 2
Police received an 8:42 a.m. call from a person claiming that they had been threatened in the 300 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard. Responding officers spoke with the victim and Naeem Taylor, 27, of Claremont, who was arrested for felony criminal threats, booked at CPD, and held in front of his February 4 appearance at Pomona Superior Court. He was released that day and is due back in court April 10.
