Claremont High cross country claims dual CIF titles

Claremont High School boys and girls cross country teams claimed Southern Section Division 2 CIF titles on Saturday morning at the Riverside Cross Country Course. This is the second year in a row that the girls have been CIF champions.

The girls scored 77 points to easily defeat Saugus with 104 and Capistrano Valley with 110. Sydney Hwang led the Pack in her fifth place finish at 17:18.

Even though the boys top spot was 11th place, a tight scoring group sealed victory in the team title. Claremont scored 108 points to easily defeat Saugus at 141 and West Ranch at 157. Ryan Cowgill had the Pack’s fastest time at 15:16.
