Fourth of July facts for Claremont and beyond

Claremont
Claremont’s Fourth of July celebration, themed “Shout Hooray for the USA,” kicks off with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Claremont at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., followed by a flag raising ceremony at 9, a 10 a.m. parade beginning at 10th Street and Indian Hill Boulevard, a festival starting at the same time and concluding at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park, and the T. Willard Hunter Speakers Corner opening at 11 a.m.

Gates open for the evening fireworks show at Pomona College’s Strehle Track, 522 N. Mills Ave., at 6:30 p.m. The Kiwanis Club of Claremont will be cooking a BBQ dinner, and Upstream will perform from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45. Pyrospectaculars’ fireworks show is set for 9.

Tickets are $10 at the gate, or in advance at Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd.; Claremont City Hall, 207 N. Harvard Ave.; and Vons, 550 E. Baseline Rd.

 

La Verne
Independence Day in La Verne opens with a 6:30 a.m. Boy Scout Troop 411 sponsored $7 pancake breakfast at La Verne Methodist Church, 3205 D St.

The pre-parade Harley ride begins at 9:40 a.m., followed by the parade, themed “50 Years of Hometown Heroes,” at 10. The route starts at the corner of 10th and D streets, with surrounding street closures beginning at 9:30. Parade details are at cityoflaverne.org.

The skate park at 3102 D St. will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the La Verne Aquatics Center, 3175 Bolling Ave., will offer free swim for all from noon to 4 p.m. La Verne Methodist Church will then offer a pacific island barbeque fest at $20 per adult and $10 per child 12 and under from 4 to 7 p.m.

To cap the day, guests can enjoy activities at Bonita High School’s Glenn Davis Stadium, 3102 D St. Gates open at 6 p.m., the All-Nighters will perform at 7, and fireworks will go off at about 9. Children 4 and under enter free. Everyone else is $20.

Pomona
Kaboom! is the Fairplex’s annual Fourth of July event which features monster trucks, motocross, live entertainment, and fireworks at 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona.

Doors open at 4 and fireworks begin at 9:15. Admission ranges from $22 to $40 depending if tickets are bought online at fairplex.com/kaboom or at the gate. Parking is not included. Children under age 2 do not need a ticket if they sit on a paying guest’s lap during the entire show.

Admission, parking and alcohol sales are credit/debit card only, though some food stands may accept cash. Ride share service drop-off and pick-up is available at gate 1 along McKinley Avenue.

Rancho Cucamonga
Tickets to Rancho Cucamonga’s 2024 Fourth of July fireworks spectacular at Epicenter Sports Complex, 8408 Rochester Ave., are $15, or $125 for a reserved table for four, at cityofrc.us.

Attendees can begin parking at 5:30 p.m. before gates open at 6. Activities and live entertainment by Blow Brass begin at 6:30, ahead of the firework show at 9.

Upland
Upland’s annual Light Up The Night Fireworks Spectacular features a concert by Pop Vision, beer gardens, family friendly attractions, and fireworks at Cable Airport, 1749 W. 13th St.

Event gates open at 4 p.m. ahead of an airplane display at 4:30. Pop Vision takes the stage at 5, the same time stage games and contests begin. Fireworks will go off at about 9.

Presale tickets are $15 at Magnolia Recreation Center, 651 W. 15th St.; Gibson Senior Center, 250 N. Third Ave.; Upland City Hall, 460 N. Euclid Ave.; and the Landecena Community Building, 1325 San Bernardino Rd. Event day admission is $20 only at Magnolia Recreation Center. Tickets will not be sold at Cable Airport on July 4.

Parking is available at the Lowes and Walmart parking lots, at 1659 and 1540 W. Foothill Blvd., respectively, starting at 3:30 p.m. Limited onsite airport accessible parking is available with pre-registration. Benson Avenue will also be closed from Foothill to 16th Street. Free shuttles will take spectators from Foothill Bible Church, 1330 W. 15th St., Upland, to the event site from 4 to 10:30 p.m. The last shuttle departs at 7:30.
