Thursday, December 10

Claremont Police Department officers made a vehicle code violation stop at 1:20 a.m. near San Jose and Mountain Ave. The driver, Yair Anaya, 29, from Pomona, was allegedly driving with a suspended license and also had a misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest. His passenger, 27-year-old La Puente resident Jessica Palomares, also had an active misdemeanor warrant. The pair were arrested, booked, and spent the rest of their morning in the Claremont jail before answering for the warrants in Pomona Superior Court. 

 

Saturday, December 12

Claremont police on patrol at 1:30 p.m. near Indian Hill Blvd. and Arrow Highway allegedly saw 

Oscar Canasvasquez, 29, from Ontario, using a black marker to tag a city sign. Cops approached with the intent of arresting him for vandalism, but Mr. Canasvasquez was allegedly non-compliant. He was also in possession of a methamphetamine pipe. Mr. Canasvasquez was subsequently arrested on three misdemeanor charges: vandalism, resisting arrest and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. 

 

Police were called to Slick Threading, 1011 W. Foothill Blvd., at 2:30 p.m. regarding a man hanging around outside with a beer in his hand. They found John Mancha, 60, from Bell, and after questioning arrested him for public intoxication and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Mr. Mancha was booked, and after sobering up for some time in the Claremont jail, released with a citation. 

 

Police on patrol at 6:45 p.m. near Indian Hill Blvd. and San Jose Ave. pulled over a car driven by Cyria Ford, 23, from Los Angeles, for a vehicle code violation. Ms. Ford allegedly showed signs of being intoxicated and was given a field sobriety test. She apparently failed, because she was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, a misdemeanor. Police are awaiting the results of a toxicology test so as to determine which drug or drugs she was allegedly under the influence of. 

 

Sunday, December 13

In yet another in the long line of Blotter blurbs featuring the violation of the number one rule of criminality, Claremont PD arrested Delcenore Dunford at the Chevron/McDonald’s at 8:20 a.m. after he returned to the scene of his alleged crime. After being asked to leave the store at 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd. earlier that morning due to loitering, Mr. Dunford, 33, from Walnut, returned, and cops were called. A CPD officer determined Mr. Dunford was high on an unknown drug, and a search allegedly turned up some food items police suspect were stolen from the market, presumably during his previous visit. So, Mr. Dunford was arrested on the three misdemeanor charges, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court. 

 

Claremont police saw a man they were familiar with from previous encounters, 30-year-old Pomonan Frankie Hernandez, sitting in parked car at 2:30 p.m. at the Claremont Lodge, 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd. They knew he was on probation and were familiar with its terms, and during questioning allegedly found some methamphetamine on him. Mr. Hernandez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, booked and released with a citation to appear. 

 

Monday, December 14

Julio Parra-Pena, 29, from Ontario, was walking at 1:30 a.m. near the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Mills Ave. when police pulled up to check on his welfare. While talking with him they allegedly found him to be in possession of meth, and he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. 

 

Tuesday, December 15

Cops patrolling at 1 a.m. near Arrow Highway and Mountain Ave. pulled a car over for a code violation. A records check revealed the driver, Rancho Cucamonga resident Anthony Pipkin, 29, had an active restraining order against him that required him to stay away from his passenger, a 21-year-old woman. Mr. Pipkin was arrested for the court order violation, booked, and released with a citation.
