Food drive for Hope Partners Saturday
Claremont Presbyterian Church will be sponsoring a community-wide food drive on Saturday, November 7, 1-4 PM in the church parking lot. All donations will benefit Inland Valley Hope Partners, a local nonprofit providing food, shelter, and support services to individuals and families in need.
In addition to an increase in requests for emergency rent/mortgage assistance, IVHP has also seen a substantial increase in homelessness—and with it an increase in requests for nonperishable food and hygiene supplies. IVHP’s food security manager Isaac Vega said the initial surge began with the pandemic and had started to level off, even decrease slightly over the summer months. But those numbers are quickly rising again—a trend likely to continue into the holiday season.
Donations of nonperishable food, as well as personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies, will be accepted in the church parking lot from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 7. Donors can simply pop open their trunk or door and a masked volunteer will remove the items.
Recently requested items from IVHP include soups (many do not have can openers), can openers, ramen, and cup of noodles.
Claremont Presbyterian Church is located at 1111 N. Mountain Ave. in Claremont.
