No solicitors should come knocking in Claremont

The Claremont Police Department this week reiterated that door-to-door solicitors must obtain a permit prior to soliciting, and that currently there are no active permits on its books.

“It has come to the Police Department’s attention that realtors may be going door to door to solicit future business, attempting to make contact with residents without following COVID safety protocols,” read the CPD press release.

“This is a direct violation of our solicitation ordinance and in violation of the State of California and Department of Real Estate guidelines. If you are contacted by a solicitor and want the illegal solicitor to be fined, please contact the Claremont Police Department at the time of occurrence.”

Solicitation permits are issued by the Claremont Police Department after a background check is completed.

Again, currently no solicitors should be knocking on doors in Claremont. If you suspect someone is in violation of this ordinance, call CPD at (909) 399-5411.
