Wednesday, July 8
Claremont Police Department officers responded to a fight in progress call at the DoubleTree Hotel, 555 W. Foothill Blvd. at 10:20 a.m. and encountered an “extremely intoxicated” man—later identified as Pomona resident Alan Gudino-Mendez—who was arguing with a female adult. Cops allege he became aggravated and aggressive, which resulted in his arrest. Mr. Gudino-Mendez, 24, spent the rest of his day in the Claremont jail before being released sober, and with a citation for misdemeanor public intoxication.

Claremont police got an 8:40 p.m. call about a suspicious man who was not a hotel guest repeatedly moving to and from a parked green 1995 Chevrolet truck at the Claremont Lodge, 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd. As they were questioning Abraham Contreras, 32, from Whittier, they discovered the Chevy truck had been reported stolen on July 2. They also found Mr. Contreras had four warrants out for his arrest. He was taken into custody, booked for felony grand theft auto and held on $50,000 bail. He spent the next two days and nights in Claremont jail before appearing July 10 at Pomona Superior Court.

The night manager at the Knight’s Inn, at 721 S. Indian Hill Blvd., called the cops on Pomona resident Alexis Frenes because “she wasn’t supposed to be there.” Police arrived about 10:30 p.m. and located Ms. Frenes, 25. After chatting her up they discovered she had two outstanding warrants out of San Bernardino County, one a felony and one a misdemeanor. She was arrested and transported to West Valley Detention Center in Fontana.
Thursday, July 9
San Dimas resident Alan C. Santiago, 26, was arrested for felony grand theft auto about 12:50 p.m. after a Claremont officer ran the plate of a white 2003 Ford F250 truck and it came back stolen. Mr. Santiago spent four nights in Claremont jail before appearing July 13 in Pomona Superior Court.
Saturday, July 11
Steven D. Stowell, 29, of Claremont, was picked up at 9:51 p.m. after officers responded to a report of a person acting suspiciously near the ATM machines at Bank of America at 330 Yale Ave. Cops found Mr. Stowell had a no-bail felony warrant stemming from a parole violation, and he was subsequently arrested and transferred to the LA County Sheriff’s Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles.
Sunday, July 12
Claremont police found another car that had been reported stolen, this one a 2016 Toyota Corolla, when they pulled over Diana G. Rangel, 44, about 1:15 p.m. near the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. The San Bernardino resident was booked for felony grand theft auto and released with a citation.
Monday, July 13
Cops nabbed Claremont resident Trevor F. Rogerson, 46, at 3:30 p.m. after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant following a review of an ongoing CPD investigation. Mr. Rogerson was charged “making criminal threats with the intent to terrorize” and held overnight on $250,000 bail at Claremont jail before appearing in Pomona Court the next morning to answer to the charge.

At about 4:30 p.m. Christian S. Jimenez, 24, from San Dimas, was arrested near the corner of Arrow Highway and Indian Hill Boulevard after cops responding to a suspicious person call allegedly found him to be in possession of methamphetamine. Mr. Jimenez was booked for possession of a controlled substance before being released with a misdemeanor citation.

A 3:45 p.m. a bargain shopping excursion went terribly and sadly wrong at the DollarTree, 342 S. Indian Hill Blvd. Police responding a robbery call ended up changing the charge to petty theft after it was discovered that a 56-year-old homeless man had allegedly taken less than $5 worth of goods. During questioning, police say they found a small amount of heroin on him. He was arrested for heroin possession and shoplifting, both misdemeanors, and was released with a citation.
