City ready to help business owners with grants and more

Eleven Claremont business owners have completed the application process to receive small business grants and the city is set to award a total of $76,435 on June 25 that covers the first month’s subsidy. The total amount requested is $152,869, divvyed up in grants from as little as $3,607 all the way up to the maximum of $20,000. The program still has $129,645 remaining and city staff will continue to sift through the applications until the funds are exhausted.

Because of relaxed restrictions under the 14-week-old Safer at Home order, the Claremont Village has been noticeably busier with many restaurants and retail establishment reopening and more traffic on Indian Hill Boulevard. Earlier in the week Claremonters got the news that the much loved Claremont’s Farmers & Artisans Market would reopen this Sunday, albeit with tight restrictions.

Assistant City Manager Chris Paulson announced on Thursday that 55 applicants to the city’s rental assistance program would receive two months of rental payments totaling $177,552. The checks are scheduled to be mailed on Thursday, June 25 and Mr. Paulson noted that the program would benefit 150 Claremont residents, just over 2.5 people per each of the 55 households.
