A Claremont man was stabbed during a fight in the Claremont Village on Saturday, according Sergeant David DeMetz of the Claremont Police Department.

Police received multiple 9-1-1 calls at 7:40 p.m. about a fight in progress at Second Street and Indian Hill Boulevard. The fight apparently began as a verbal argument and then escalated. When police arrived they found the victim with a chest wound. He was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital but was not seriously injured.

The suspect, Eric Borunda, 38, of Monterey Park, was arrested a short distance away. Mr. Borunda had blood on his clothes and a cut finger that required treatment at the scene. It was not clear whether the knife was recovered.

Two eye witnesses positively identified Mr. Borunda as the suspect and he was arrested on assault with a deadly weapon. Charges were subsequently filed by the district attorney against him.
