Due to the ongoing coronavirus emergency the next regular meeting of the Claremont City Council will be held remotely through a popular video chatting website.

“For the safety and well-being of the public and city employees, the meeting will be held remotely using Zoom, and therefore, members of the public will not be permitted to be physically present for this meeting,” according to a statement in City Manager Tara Schultz weekly update.

The statement cited executive order N-29-20, which is an amendment of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s stay at home order, suspending certain requirements of the Brown Act during the current state of emergency. The order allows cities, and other public entities, to hold meetings via teleconferencing as long as there is proper notification and the public is afforded access to the remote meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for April 14 at 6:30 p.m. A link will be provided on the city’s website the day of the event, so anyone can watch online.
