Cucamonga Peak carrot top

Fewer cars on the road means less air pollution, helping create spectacular sunsets on the San Gabriel Mountains. And at 8,858 feet high, Cucamonga Peak is not only still covered with snow, it’s one of the last places to see the sunset each evening. Claremont has some nice spring weather on tap this week with clear skies and high temperatures in the upper 60s. It will be cool at night with lows in the 40s. But rain is in the forecast starting Sunday, causing temperatures to dip into the 50s. Rain chance will be around 50 percent, with a good chance of snow in the mountains. Winter is not quite over yet. COURIER photo/Peter Weinberger
