Obituary: Karyn Beth McGan

Claremont native, Harley enthusiast, animal lover, known for joyous, kind, loving spirit

Karyn Beth McGan (Chassman), born in Schenectady, New York on March 6, 1963, died of natural causes on March 16 in Riverside, California at the age of 57.

Karyn spent her childhood in Claremont, attending Sycamore Elementary School, El Roble Intermediate School, Claremont High and San Antonio High.

As an adult, she lived in Butler, Georgia, and California. She loved spending time on her Harley, and with her friends at restaurants and concerts.

She was known for her kindness, generosity and loving spirit. Her friends and family always admired and appreciated her openness to others, and the fact that she found joy, even when times were tough.

She loved animals, especially dogs, and participated in fundraising and advocacy for animals and animal shelters. She loved her “Pitties,” and will be missed by “Knuckles,” the dog she left behind.

She lost her husband, and the love of her life, Mike (James Michael) McGan, in 2016.

She is loved and will be missed by her mother, Sally Chassman, her father, Gary Chassman; her sister and brother Jennifer and Josh Chassman; and by her many friends in California and Georgia.
