Tuesday, February 11

Police arrested a Rancho Cucamonga woman on a drug charge after she apparently knocked on a stranger’s door on the 800 block of Reed around 10 p.m. The residents, who were home at the time, did not know 24-year-old Kathleen Kennedy, and when police arrived, they determined she was under the influence of an unknown substance, Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department said. She was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

An unknown burglar somehow entered a garage at the Vista Valle Townhomes on the 600 block of west San Jose Avenue, entering an unlocked car and taking a laptop and a wallet. The theft happened between 8 p.m. on February 11 and 9 a.m. on February 12. There is no suspect information.

Thursday, February 13

Between 7:30 and 8:10 a.m., an unknown thief smashed the window of a parked car at Bonita and Grinnell, taking the victim’s purse and a briefcase. All told, the stolen goods were worth about $200.

Police arrested 24-year-old Moises Castellano after they caught him behind the wheel of a stolen Jeep Cherokee. Officers ran the plates on the Jeep around 8:40 a.m., determined it was stolen, and followed the car until it turned into the Pepper Tree Square parking lot. Mr. Castellano told police he knew the car was stolen, and he was arrested for grand theft auto.

Friday, February 14

A man was arrested after he allegedly punched the driver of another car after getting into a traffic collision at Indian Hill and American Avenues. Around 5 p.m., one driver, who police determined was driving drunk, caused the traffic collision, and then the other driver struck the drunk driver in the moments after the crash. The puncher was arrested on suspicion of battery. His name was not available.

Police arrested 36-year-old Octavio Alvarez after he was caught behind the wheel of a stolen GMC Yukon. After officers ran the SUV’s license plate around 11:30 p.m. near Indian Hill and the 10 freeway, they found it had been stolen out of Pomona two days earlier, Lt. Walters said. Mr. Alvarez was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto.

Saturday, February 15

A Los Angeles man was arrested for possession of a meth pipe after a caller thought someone was possibly having sex on the 600 block of south Indian Hill. When police arrived around 10 p.m., there was no evidence 68-year-old Elijah Massey and the unnamed female companion were doing the deed, but they did find the pipe in Mr. Massey’s possession. He was arrested, but the woman was not.

Sunday, February 16

Someone stole a spare tire, a dashboard camera and some tools worth about $200 from a car parked in the north alley behind the Claremont Village Apartments on the 900 block of west Arrow Highway. Police are investigating, and there is no suspect information.

Monday, February 17

A hit-and-run call turned into a stolen car investigation at Indian Hill and the 10 freeway. Around 4 p.m., the suspect hit the victim while they were in their car, and then immediately drove off without exchanging information. But the suspect left an entire bumper at the scene, which still had a license plate on it. When officers ran the plate, it came back as stolen. Police are investigating.
