Claremont McKenna College unveiled a bronze sculpture last weekend in honor of longtime Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum director Jil Stark.

The 30-inch bronze was installed in the north courtyard of the Athenaeum and, according to the college, was gift from the class of 1957 and other supporters.

California artist Bruce Wolfe has recently created bronze busts for Gavin Newsom at San Francisco City Hall as well as a full figure bronze of Frederick Douglass, which was installed at Hillsdale College in 2018.

Ms. Stark became involved at the Athenaeum after her husband, Jack Stark, became president of CMC in 1970; his tenure continued nearly 30 years until his retirement in 1999.
