Obituary: Helen Huk
Beloved grandmother, mother, longtime Claremont resident
Helen Huk died peacefully on October 26 in New Jersey at the age of 94.
Helen was born in Chicago to Polish immigrants on Christmas Eve, 1924
She married Stephen in May 1943, just five days before he was shipped out to fight in World War II.
She was a real life “Rosie the Riveter,” and entertained her grandsons with stories of how quickly she could assemble a machine gun.
In 1963 the Huks moved their two young children to California. They became Claremont residents in 1967. She was a resident of Claremont for 45 years before moving to New Jersey in 2012.
Mrs. Huk was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; son, Michael; and daughter, Mary.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine, her husband, Ray Mann and their children, Kilian and Declan, who lived near her in New Jersey.
Her California family includes her grandsons and their loving wives, David Rogers and Jenny Hofmeister, and Brian and Becca Rogers and their children, Finn and Avery.
“Helen was known for her smile and her kindness,” her family shared.
The family will hold a private service.
