Tuesday, September 24

A Montclair man was arrested days after police found four storage units burglarized. The burglary occurred at Extra Space Storage on the 500 block of west Arrow Highway around 3:30 a.m. to 3:45 a.m., according to Det. Matt Hamill of the Claremont Police Department. Video surveillance from the business captured a suspect in the act, and 27-year-old Antonio Alcaraz was arrested in connection with the burglary while walking in the area of San Jose and Indian Hill on September 30. He was taken to CPD jail. It is unknown what was stolen from the four storage units.

Two people were arrested after police found a car that had been stolen from Chino. Officers pulled over the 2015 Hyundai Sonata near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue around 8:47 p.m. The driver, 23-year-old Resean Smith of Altadena, was arrested on suspicion of stealing the car, and the 26-year-old passenger was arrested for a warrant.

Wednesday, September 25

A Claremont man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Police arrived to the home on the 300 block of Sycamore Avenue around 12:15 a.m. and discovered a 37-year-old woman with visible redness and bruising to her face, chest and neck, Det. Hamill said. The 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and taken to CPD jail. The victim reportedly refused medical attention.

Thursday, September 26

Police arrested a man suspected of leading police on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen car and getting away back in February. Police pursued the stolen Honda CRV on February 5 around 2:15 a.m. until it collided into a fence at the end of Marion Drive. The suspect was able to get away on foot. The person wanted in connection with the case, 22-year-old Ricardo Miranda, was pulled over by Cal Poly Pomona police for a vehicle code violation, Det. Hamill said. Officers there found a want for Mr. Miranda in connection with the Claremont case, and arrested him.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of burglary after getting caught red-handed with stolen goods. Police were called to the Cambridge Apartments on the 100 block of north Mountain Avenue around 9:30 a.m. after a car was seen driving slowly through an alleyway and possibly casing the area, Det. Hamill said. Police arrived and found 53-year-old Clyde Dooley of Ontario and 40-year-old Tracy Hernando of Ontario standing next to their car, which was adjacent to a garage that had just been burglarized. Stolen property from the garage was found in the suspects’ car, and both were arrested for burglary and taken to CPD jail.

A 21-speed black and lime green road bike was stolen from a bike rack in front of the Claremont Museum of Art on the 200 block of First Street. The bike was worth about $150, and was stolen sometime between 7:40 a.m. and 7:18 p.m. There is no suspect information.

Two people were arrested for being drunk in public at CK Café, and one of them allegedly tried to strike an officer in the process. An officer was called to the café in the alley of the 100 block of Yale Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after a couple was seen arguing in the area. The duo, 26-year-old Madison Moon of Glendora and 25-year-old Thomas Cannone of La Verne, were both determined to be drunk. Ms. Moon allegedly yelled at the officer, saying she was not going to talk to her, and then “raised her right hand, closed her fist and attempted to hit the officer,” Det. Hamill said. Ms. Moon was forcibly taken to the ground, injuring her chin in the process, and was arrested.

Friday, September 27

Police are investigating a burglary at a home on the 2300 block of Silver Tree Road. Between 5 a.m. on September 26 and 5:18 p.m. on September 27, the unknown suspect used a framing hammer to break the window of a door that led to the attached garage. The thief then rummaged through various drawers and tried to get into the main house, but was unsuccessful. Ultimately, nothing was taken from the home.

A room at the Knight’s Inn was also burglarized on Friday. The unknown suspects entered the victim’s first floor room through a sliding glass door, Det. Hamill said, taking two iPhones, clothing and shoes before fleeing undetected. Police are investigating.

Sunday, September 29

A Victorville man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into another car on Arrow Highway. Around 8 p.m., a westbound car driven by 23-year-old Joseph Zamora collided into another car that was attempting to turn onto Arrow from Cucamonga Avenue, Det. Hamill said. The other car then collided head-on into a city tree. The driver of the other car sustained injuries to her head, neck and torso. During an investigation, police determined Mr. Zamora was too drunk to be driving, and he was arrested for DUI causing injury.

An Ontario man was arrested after he allegedly threatened people with a wood chisel near the Packing House. Police were called to the 500 block of west First Street just before 10 p.m. and learned 31-year-old David Evans was brandishing a weapon and “yelling that he was going to murder someone,” Det. Hamill said. Mr. Evans was detained at gunpoint, and was seen throwing the chisel into the bushes. Police determined he threatened numerous people. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a weapon, making criminal threats and public intoxication.

Monday, September 30

A Pomona man was arrested in connection with a criminal threats case from August. Cameron Floyd, 22, was arrested while visiting his girlfriend, who initially called police about the threats on August 29, on the 600 block of Sycamore Avenue, Det. Hamill said. He is accused of sending text messages to the victim stating he wanted to kill her. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.
