Little league 10-year-old all-stars last local team
The Claremont Little League 10-year-old All Stars are the last local team still alive in Southern California State Championship Tournament in Long Beach after both the 14- and 12-year-old teams lost in recent weeks.
The boys started the tournament on Saturday with a 14-7 win over Chula Vista, thanks to some amazing pitching and a home run by Lucas Rhoa. Claremont and Ocean View were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie into the sixth inning, but Claremont eventually lost, 3-0. They came back and won Tuesday against Eastvale, 5-3, and once again it was a no score game until the sixth inning.
The 10-year-old boys had their make or break game Thursday night after the COURIER’s print deadline. But look for updates on the website.
The Claremont 12-year-old All Stars played hard, but lost against Moorpark, 8-3, on Saturday and to Sherman Oaks, 10-6, on Sunday. The boys played well and Karson Grillo hit an amazing home run during their game on Sunday.
“Honestly, all of these teams sure represented our little city and Little League so well, on and off the field. They won with integrity and lost with their heads held high. I am so proud of each of them!” Claremont Little League president Jennifer Ballesteros said.
