PVHMC teams up to raise funds for NICU

When a baby is born prematurely, the stress, worry and fear that come along with it can feel insurmountable. The Hogan family of Claremont Toyota knows these feelings all too well. Their son, Roger Jr., was born two months premature, weighing just four-and-a-half pounds with underdeveloped lungs.

As their son was fighting to gain weight, Roger and Cathie Hogan never left his side as the nurses and doctors at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) worked to provide lifesaving care to Roger, Jr.

The Hogan family, with Roger Jr. in their arms, was able to leave the hospital’s NICU department after six weeks, which they say would not have been possible without the specialized care provided to their son at PVHMC.

Today, Roger Jr. is 38 years old and works alongside his siblings and father at Claremont and Capo Toyota, their family-owned dealerships.

Because the Hogans attribute their son’s survival to the physicians at PVHMC’s NICU, they have committed to support families just like them. As title sponsor of the hospital’s annual wine tasting event, the Hogan family has helped raise nearly $1 million over 15 years to benefit the NICU and pediatric departments at PVHMC.

The hospital purchased state-of-the-art equipment for its pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, ensuring that its tiniest patients continue to receive quality care in a healing and supportive environment.

This year’s annual wine tasting, featuring a collection of more than 200 wines from more than 30 vintners from around the world, will take place Friday, May 17 at the Fairplex Conference Center in Pomona. For information, visit pvhmc.org/giving-support/special-events/wine-tasting.
