Wednesday, May 1

Claremont police arrested a woman on suspicion of being under the influence after she allegedly tried to get into someone’s backyard on the 100 block of north Cambridge Avenue. A witness called police around 10:45 a.m. after 40-year-old Tomasina Thomas was seen breaking a fence and jumping into a rear yard, according to Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department. When police arrived, they found Ms. Thomas was under the influence of an unknown stimulant and arrested her.

Thursday, May 2

A Rialto man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence at the Claremont Unified School District office. An employee called police around 9:20 a.m. and said someone was on the premises “talking to himself.” Police arrived and found 55-year-old Donald McLeod showing symptoms of being under the influence. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail, where he was later released with a citation.

A Claremont man was arrested after allegedly barricading himself in a home on the 800 block of Hood Drive. Police arrived around 5 p.m. after 45-year-old Bryan Gobin allegedly made criminal threats and annoying phone calls to the victim. Mr. Gobin saw police arrive and reportedly barricaded himself inside the home for roughly three hours. Officers were able to obtain an arrest warrant and Mr. Gobin was arrested around 8 p.m. Mr. Gobin has pleaded not guilty to charges of making criminal threats and stalking. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28. Nobody was injured.

Friday, May 3

A Pomona man was arrested after he was caught behind the wheel of a stolen Toyota Prius. Around 2 a.m., officers ran a check on the Pruis’ plate, found it was stolen, and pulled the car over at Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue. The driver, 19-year-old Juan Tenas, initially gave a false name to police and also allegedly had a glass pipe on him as well as a warrant, Lt. Walters said. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

Another stolen car was recovered at San Jose Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard, this time around 12:45 p.m. When officers pulled over a silver Oldsmobile sedan, the driver also gave a false name to police. He was later identified as 57-year-old Gary Condon and had two warrants out of San Bernardino County and one no-bail warrant out of LA County. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

Someone took around $700 worth of pool cues, pocket chalk and pool sticks from an unlocked car parked on the 200 block of Creighton Circle. The theft occurred between May 2 at 10:45 a.m. and May 3 at 12:45 a.m. There is no suspect information.

A 14-year-old Claremont boy was arrested after a witness caught him tagging a Blaisdell Park restroom with a sharpie. The teen, who allegedly wrote “YGB” on the walls, was arrested by police on suspicion of vandalism and released to his parents with a citation.

Saturday, May 4

Two people were arrested after leading police on a pursuit through Claremont that ended in Upland. Around midnight, officers at Towne Avenue and Arrow Highway attempted to pull over a 2000 Honda Civic that had been reported stolen. The car didn’t stop and led police on a pursuit north on Towne and east on Foothill Boulevard into Upland, where the pursuit ended when the car rolled into a building in an industrial complex on 11th Street and Dewey Way. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Cain Ramirez of Pomona, tried to flee on foot but was immediately caught. A passenger, 34-year-old Froylan Urvieta of Montclair, also fled on foot and was located later by Upland K9 units hiding in some nearby bushes. Mr. Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto, evading police, resisting arrest and a warrant. Mr. Urvieta also had seven warrants out for his arrest.

Monday, May 6

Police arrested a Pomona man after they caught him red-handed with a stolen purse. An officer was on patrol in an alleyway on the 500 block of Towne Avenue when he saw 24-year-old Robert Wood holding the purse. Upon seeing the officer, Mr. Wood threw down the stolen goods and ran. The foot pursuit went across Towne Avenue into a residential neighborhood. Mr. Wood was finally apprehended at the corner of Stanwood Avenue and Sterling Street in Pomona. Mr. Wood told police he found the purse, but officers found a car in the area that had been recently broken into. Mr. Wood was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine.

Two people were arrested after police found around 400 pills in a tent at 760 E. Foothill Boulevard in Pomona. Officers went to the area to serve a no-bail warrant on 26-year-old Sebastian Farnsworth of La Verne. At the scene, police found the pills, as well as a scale, a bag of meth and burglary tools. Mr. Farnsworth was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs for sale with intent to distribute. Another occupant of the tent, 31-year-old Amanda Weinstein of Pomona, was arrested for possession of burglary tools.
