Former Claremont Mayor Ellen S. Taylor died peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2019.  Ms. Taylor was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1944 and lived in various places before finally settling down in Claremont in 1978.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Marshall Taylor, and, her two sons Matthew and Andrew along with their wives and children.

The COURIER staff shares in the grief felt by the entire community. For decades, Ms. Taylor was a spirited and active volunteer in Claremont politics who truly cared about the city and its residents. Our hearts are with Marshall and her sons today, as well as her many friends and family.

A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. A more complete obituary will appear in a future edition of the COURIER.
