Claremont police arrested three people following a residential burglary that occurred in northeast Claremont.

Officers were alerted to the home on the 3700 block of Hollins Avenue at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday, after a house keeper had called police to report that burglars had broken into the home and she was hiding inside, Lt. Eric Huizar of the Claremont Police Department said.

When police arrived, one suspect, identified as 29-year-old Markus Gray of Hawthorne, attempted to flee in a silver Toyota sedan but crashed a short time later into a large boulder on the property of a home on Westminster Place, Lt. Huizar said.

After a lengthy foot pursuit through multiple yards, Mr. Gray was contained in the yard of a home on the 900 block of Pomello Drive. After allegedly refusing to surrender, he was apprehended by a Claremont K-9 unit, Lt. Huizar said.

Two other suspects remained at large, but police found footprints were seen behind the home which backs onto the San Antonio wash. After securing the property police said there was evidence of the home being ransacked.

Over an hour into the investigation, a second suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dejon Williams of Pasadena, was located and detained in Upland after he allegedly tried to break into another home, Lt. Huizar said.

The third suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Carl Lloyd of Pasadena was located in the area of Mountain Avenue and Euclid Avenue in Upland, but he fled from officers after an extensive foot chase. Four local law enforcement agencies—Claremont PD, Upland PD, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and a helicopter from the Ontario PD—searched for Mr. Lloyd, Lt. Huizar said.

After allegedly breaking into another home in Upland, Mr. Lloyd was found and arrested in the area of Mountain Avenue and Arrow Route in Upland.

All three are facing charges of residential burglary, home invasion and resisting arrest, Lt. Huizar said. Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Williams reportedly are known gang members who were on parole for burglary at the time of the incident. They are being held on a no-bail parole hold at the Claremont jail.

Mr. Gray is being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Downtown L.A. in lieu of $60,000 bail.

All three are scheduled to be arraigned at Pomona Superior Court on Monday, March 4, Lt. Huizar said.
