Tuesday, January 22

A transient was arrested after getting caught with a stolen bicycle. Police allege that around 7:30 a.m., 25-year-old Jason Flanagan entered a garage on the 300 block of west 12th Street and stole a $100 beach cruiser bike. The victim saw Mr. Flanagan in the garage while the caper was taking place, Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department said. He was later located with the bike near Arrow Route and College Park in Upland and was arrested. The bike was returned to its owner.

A car theft victim got his wheels back after finding the car and the thief in a Claremont park two hours later. A Toyota Corolla was stolen around 11 a.m. on the 400 block of Guilford Avenue after the keys were left in the car, Lt. Walters said. Around 12:30 p.m., the victim saw the stolen car and the alleged thief, 34-year-old Andre Grant of Pomona, sitting inside it at Wheeler Park. The victim confronted Mr. Grant, who tried to leave but was caught by police and arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto. The Corolla was not damaged.

Police are investigating a garage burglary that occurred on the 4100 block of Tenango. Between 4:18 a.m. and 4:44 a.m., a thief entered the garage through an unlocked side door and went through an unlocked Lexus, stealing a wallet, a sports bag, gift cards, social security cards, a pocketknife and $10 in cash. Credit cards from the wallet have been used in three undisclosed locations in Claremont. The suspect is described as a Caucasian man around 25 years old. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department.

Friday, January 25

Two Whittier residents were arrested after a routine traffic stop yielded drugs. Police pulled over the car for brake light and tint violations on the 300 block of west Foothill Boulevard in front of American Inn. The driver, 37-year-old Jordan Lucas, admitted to being in possession of a meth pipe, Lt. Walters said. A passenger, 18-year-old Fabian Gonzalez, allegedly had meth on him. Both were arrested and taken to CPD jail.

A Pomona man was arrested for allegedly pushing a 21-year-old woman during an argument. Around 1 a.m. on the 100 block of south College Avenue, 27-year-old Aaron Weinreb reportedly pushed the woman during a verbal altercation, causing her to fall backward and hit the back of her head. Mr. Weinreb had left when police arrived to the home, but they found him at his home in Pomona and arrested him on suspicion of domestic violence. The victim was not taken to a hospital.

Saturday, January 26

A catalytic converter was taken from a Honda Pilot on the 200 block of Piedmont Avenue between 3:30 p.m. on January 26 and noon on January 27. The converter was valued at $300, and there was no suspect information.

Sunday, January 27

Up to five units at Extra Space Storage at 525 W. Arrow Highway were broken into. The break-ins occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight, and two men on bicycles wearing hoodies were seen in the area before the burglaries. Police are investigating, and it’s unknown what was taken.

Monday, January 28

Around $5,000 worth of goods were taken from a detached garage on the 1400 block of Morton Circle. Between January 20 at 7 p.m. and January 28 at noon, the unknown burglar entered the unlocked garage and took glasses and a muscle stimulator machine. There is no suspect information.

Two people were arrested after getting caught behind the wheel of a stolen car. License plate reading cameras at San Jose Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard captured the stolen 1992 Honda Civic around 2 p.m. The driver, 38-year-old Marco Elizade, was arrested for grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and a no-bail warrant. A passenger, 41-year-old Eileen Lozada of Pomona, was arrested for grand theft auto. Both were taken to CPD jail.
