Police blotter 1-4-19
Wednesday, December 19
A mountain bike valued at $7,400 was taken from a garage on the 900 block of Fenn Court. Between December 18 at 10:30 p.m. and December 19 at 9:30 p.m., the unknown suspect entered the garage, took the blue Pivot Mach 6 carbon fiber competition mountain bike, and fled undetected, according to Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department. Anyone with information should call the CPD at (909) 399-5411.

Police are investigating a burglary that occurred on the 1000 block of Trivecca Place. Between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., three suspects entered the house by breaking a window on the first floor. They ransacked the home, taking an unknown number of items before fleeing.
Thursday, December 20
A 13-year-old girl was arrested after she allegedly set several towels on fire in the girls’ restroom at El Roble. Police were called to the school at 12:15 p.m., and school staff quickly extinguished the fire. The girl was arrested on suspicion of arson and taken to CPD jail, where she was booked, cited and released.
Friday, December 21
Just before 11 a.m., police contacted 49-year-old Kerry Vasquez at the Knight’s Inn at 721 south Indian Hill Boulevard. They found that the Upland resident not only had a warrant out for his arrest, but was allegedly in possession of meth and a meth pipe. He was arrested, booked and released with a citation to appear in court.

Officers arrived to a home on the 300 block of Harrison Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after a physical altercation occurred. One of the people involved, 29-year-old Jose Gregory of San Bernardino, allegedly punched out a window and a screen door and threatened to kill someone. He was arrested for vandalism, criminal threats and public intoxication, and was taken to CPD jail.
Saturday, December 22
Police are investigating a burglary on the 400 block of Mt. Carmel. Between 6:30 p.m. on December 21 and 5:30 p.m. on December 22, the unknown burglar shattered a rear sliding glass door, went through several rooms, and took an unknown amount of property from the home. There is no suspect information.

A Fontana woman was arrested for DUI following a car collision near Sixth Street and Brooks Avenue in the Colleges. When police arrived at the scene around 4:10 p.m., they found that the driver of one of the cars, 25-year-old Caitlin Cutrona of Fontana, was intoxicated. A person in the other car complained of pain, and Ms. Cutrona was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury.
Monday, December 24
A Las Vegas man was arrested after apparently causing an alcohol and drug-
fueled scene at the Colleges. Police were called to the 300 block of Platt Boulevard around 1 a.m. on a potential carjacking call, and found 38-year-old Chad Lund “hitting vehicles, running around and yelling,” Lt. Walters said. There was no evidence of a carjacking, but Mr. Lund was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a small amount of cocaine.

Around 9 a.m. on Christmas Eve, a witness on St. Bonaventure Avenue called police, believing two people on bicycles in the area were trying to steal packages from porches. One of them, 53-year-old Richard Valenzuiela of Pomona, was allegedly in possession of burglary tools and a needle, while the other, 36-year-old Agustin Baeza of Pomona, had a warrant out for his arrest. Both were arrested.

Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., an unknown suspect entered a room at Motel 6 and took a laptop, speaker and some mail that belonged to the motel guest. There was no sign of forced entry, and no suspect information was available. Police are investigating.
Thursday, December 27
A meth pipe and an altered airsoft rifle were allegedly found in the car of a Chino Hills man. Police pulled over a car driven by 29-year-old Anthony Jackson at 3:15 a.m. in front of Knight’s Inn. Mr. Jackson had a warrant, and a search of his car revealed the pipe and the gun, the tip of which had been removed to make it look like a real gun. Mr. Jackson was arrested and taken to CPD jail.
Friday, December 28
Two people were arrested at a checkpoint on Dartmouth and Foothill. David Dyce, 25, of Pomona, was allegedly driving with a suspended license and an open container when he arrived at the checkpoint around 10:30 p.m., Lt. Walters said. He was on probation for a previous DUI. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.
Around the same time, 58-year-old Frederick Chang of Kenmore, Washington was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated when he entered the checkpoint. He was taken to CPD jail and cited and released.
Saturday, December 29
A Pomona woman was arrested after she drove into a light pole while intoxicated. The collision occurred around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Indian Hill and Oak Park Drive, when 25-year-old Ariana Smith crashed into the cement pole. When officers arrived, they found she was too drunk to remain on the streets, and she was arrested. She was uninjured.
Sunday, December 30
Police are investigating another home burglary on the 900 block of Harrison Avenue. The break-in occurred between 10:30 a.m. on December 27 and 9:30 p.m. on December 30, when the burglars entered the home and removed a small safe containing paperwork and approximately $200. There were no signs of forced entry.
Monday, December 31
Police arrived to the 600 block of west Bonita Avenue after a witness claimed to have seen two people looking into cars. When police arrived, they found 26-year-old Crystal Lara of Pomona with a warrant for her arrest and a meth pipe in her bra. Her companion, 35-year-old Steven Kirby of La Verne, allegedly had heroin in his possession, as well as a straw altered to ingest the heroin. Both were arrested and taken to CPD jail. There was no evidence of Mr. Kirby and Ms. Lara breaking into cars.
