Off-duty Claremont officer catches home burglars in the act
Two people were arrested Monday morning after an off-duty Claremont police officer caught them breaking into a home.
Cameron Hall, 36 from Claremont, and Rula Daleq, 42 from Pomona, were arrested after the off-duty officer called police around 8:30 a.m. to report a possible burglary in progress, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department.
According to police, the officer watched as one of the suspects was seen trying to open doors and looking into windows at a residence on the 1400 block of north Towne Avenue.
When officers arrived, they saw Ms. Daleq, who then hid and would not respond to the officers’ repeated commands. She was eventually arrested.
Officers continued to search inside the residence, where they found Mr. Hall in a bedroom and arrested him without incident.
Ms. Daleq and Mr. Hall were both arrested and transported to the Claremont Police Department jail. Mr. Hall was booked for burglary, possession of a controlled substance and outstanding warrants and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Ms. Daleq was booked for burglary and outstanding warrants and is being held in lieu of $85,000 bail.
Both are scheduled to appear on June 20 at Pomona Superior Court for arraignment.
