Friends of the Claremont Library meeting, ice cream social
The community is invited to the Friends of the Claremont Library annual end-of-the-year celebration of more than 60 years of assistance to the Claremont Library.
The gathering takes place on Saturday, June 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Claremont United Church of Christ Louise Roberts room, 233 W. Harrison Ave.
The featured speaker is Clyde Derrick, author of The Wash and The Only Journey: Three Novellas. He is a Pomona College alum, who has worked as a screenwriter for Universal Pictures, as well as story analyst at various studios. His projects include The Sixth Sense, Snow Falling on Cedars and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Ten special books have been collected for an opportunity drawing. Each attendee will receive one ticket. Guests can increase chances of winning by purchasing additional tickets.
