In conjunction with Claremont Unified School District, CEF is will host the 2018 family coding night on Wednesday, March 7 in the El Roble Intermediate School multi-purpose room from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Families are invited to explore fun resources to get kids excited about technology.

Sections include “Scratch Junior,” an introductory programming language that enables young children (ages five to seven) to create interactive stories and games; “Swift Playgrounds,” an app created specifically for the iPad to help students learn to use real code to guide a character through a 3D world; “Sphero Robots,” interactive robots used to code commands come to life using robots; and “Lego Mindstorms,” where students design and build programmable robots using high-quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles and other technical components.

The CEF Prius raffle is in full swing, presented by Claremont Toyota, residents can also enter for a chance to win a new 2017 Toyota Prius C (no color guarantee) and support CEF. Tickets are $20 each, and are available for purchase at Claremont public schools.

The drawing is scheduled for April 22 at 2 p.m. at Claremont Toyota, 601 Auto Center Dr., in Claremont.

The raffle is open to all people 18 years and over who are legal US residents physically residing in the United States. Winners need not be present to win. If less than 1000 tickets are sold, the grand prize will be $10,000 cash.
