Tuesday, December 5

Campus Safety at Keck Graduate Institute alerted Claremont police after 30-year-old Justin Sweeten of Pomona was found on the campus around 12:36 p.m., Det. Erik Orozco of the Claremont Police Department said. Mr. Sweeten was found with burglary tools in his possession, as well as a glass pipe. He was arrested on suspicion of trespassing, possession of the tools and drug paraphernalia.

A Claremonter named Lucky wasn’t so fortunate when he was arrested for DUI after crashing his car. Officers responded to Foothill Boulevard and Regis Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after getting a call that a car crashed into the median. The driver, 25-year-old Lucky Duong, was found by police to be under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Wednesday, December 6

Police are looking for two men who stole $5,000 worth of headphones and a PA system from Laemmle theater. The break-in occurred at 4 a.m., when the thieves entered the theater through unknown means and took off with 20 infrared headphones, which are used to aid the hearing impaired. Five cash registers were also taken, but all were empty at the time. There is scarce information on the suspects, only that they are both men, wearing gloves, hats and hooded sweatshirts. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.

Around 4 p.m., a car was burglarized at Evey Canyon turnout, and a purse was stolen containing a wallet, credit cards and about $50 in cash. The credit cards were used at three undisclosed locations around Claremont. An investigation is ongoing.

Justin Sweeten was arrested for stealing a bicycle, one day after he was arrested at KGI. Mr. Sweeten, 30, from Pomona, reportedly stole a bicycle worth about $2,000 from a bike rack in front of the Claremont Museum of Art around 6:45 p.m., Det. Orozco said. Police caught up to him at the corner of First Street and Indian Hill Boulevard, and he was arrested for grand theft. He was in possession of burglary tools when he was arrested.

A Pomona man was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading no contest to elder abuse and burglary, according to a release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. Sammeon Waller, 25, was charged after his grandfather, 82-year-old Robert McPherson, was found lying in a pool of blood at a home on Gayridge Street in Pomona on June 9. Mr. Waller fled the scene, and was caught a week later in Sacramento. Mr. Waller had been previously arrested in March for trespassing at Claremont Manor and for having a meth pipe in his laptop bag.

Thursday, December 7

A bicycle worth about $1,000 was stolen from Claremont High School. The victim, a student at CHS, parked their bike in front of the main office, and upon returning found the white Cannondale 24-speed men’s mountain bike was gone.

Friday, December 8

Officers found a Chevy Silverado, reported stolen out of Rowland Heights, in the Kaiser Medical Center parking lot at 250 W. San Jose Ave. around 1:45 p.m. The driver, 38-year-old Daniell Sanchez of Pomona, was arrested for stealing the truck, which was worth around $1,500. A passenger, 36-year-old Joshua Titow, was arrested for warrants.

Police are looking for two men who tried to rob a man at Second Street and Oberlin Avenue. Around 11 p.m., the victim was taking out the garbage when he was approached by two men, one of whom pointed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim said he had no money, and the two would-be robbers fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured. One suspect was described as a Hispanic man around 25 years old, and the other was described as an African-American man around 25 years old.

Sunday, December 10

A Claremont teen was arrested for assault on an officer. Police responded to a home on the 500 block of Finecroft Drive around 3 p.m. for an unknown disturbance. While she was being detained, 18-year-old Margaret Antillon reportedly kicked an officer in the leg and spit on a second officer. Both officers were not injured. Ms. Antillon was arrested for assault on an officer, resisting arrest and sent to CPD jail, where she was later released with a ticket.

Monday, December 11

Police are looking for three men who robbed a woman of her cell phone as she was walking in the area of Mills Avenue and Sixth Street. Around 5:30 p.m., the suspects grabbed the cell phone and fled on skateboards, according to Claremont police. One suspect was described as an African American man, approximately five feet, eight inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and tight, dark-colored pants. The other two suspects were described as African American men wearing dark-colored clothing. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department.
