Police blotter 9-8-17
Tuesday, August 29
A Victorville man was arrested after acting erratically in front of Oke Poke. Officers were called to the 400 block of west Foothill Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. after witnesses observed 28-year-old Jonathan Carlson “yelling and screaming,” Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department said. It is unknown what Mr. Carlson actually said. Police arrived and determined that he was under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant. He was arrested and transported to CPD jail.
Wednesday, August 30
Police are looking for whoever pried open a community mailbox and stole and unknown amount of mail. The theft occurred between 1 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on the 700 block of Landers Circle. The thief used a screwdriver-like device to force open the mailbox and make off with the contents. In all, 14 residents were affected.

A sibling rivalry went too far when a brother and sister were arrested after reportedly getting into a fight over pizza. Around 2 p.m., the 37-year-old woman and the 28-year-old man, whose names were not released, began arguing after the woman ate her brother’s pizza at a home on the 1600 block of Finecroft. The female allegedly punched her brother in the face, and he retreated to his bedroom and reportedly shot his sister twice in the leg with an airsoft gun. Both filed battery charges against the other, and both were arrested and released with a ticket.
Thursday, August 31
A 17-year-old boy was arrested after he was caught behind the wheel of a stolen car. Police noticed the Honda Civic just after 4 p.m. and found it was stolen out of Alhambra on August 24. Police determined the boy, who is from Pomona, was responsible for the theft, and he was arrested for grand theft auto and possession of stolen property and transported to CPD jail.
Friday, September 1
Police are searching for a thief who swiped a $450 pool cleaner from the backyard of a home on the 600 block of Hendrix Avenue. The homeowner told police that the cleaner was stolen between 1:30 p.m. on August 31 and 6 a.m. on September 1, and the point of entry could have been the alleyway between homes on Hendrix and San Jose Avenue. Nothing else was taken from the back yard or the home, Lt. Ciszek said.

Two women were arrested in a Claremont Lodge motel room after police received a call of a woman being held against her will. When officer arrived at the motel around 6:52 a.m., they found two women—19-year-old Jamie Tejeda of Pomona and 24-year-old Desaraye Barragan of Montclair—in the room with no signs of distress. During a check, police found a warrant out for Ms. Tejeda’s arrest and a used syringe with a “brown substance” in Ms. Barragan’s pocket.

Police found a pickup truck in the Village that was reported stolen out of Colorado days prior. Police found the Dodge truck on the 300 block of Harrison Avenue at 3:30 p.m. after it was parked on the street for several days. After a check, officers found it was stolen on August 24 out of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Police are investigating an apparent shooting that hit a nearby apartment and a car. Two unknown suspects exchanged gunfire between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Arrow Highway. One bullet hit a nearby car and another bullet went through two apartment walls. There were no known injuries, and there were no suspects located.
Saturday, September 2
A man wanted in connection with an indecent exposure incident at the Colleges was arrested after he was seen driving through the area once again. Campus Safety recognized 43-year-old James Sedillo from Azusa as he drove his red Chevrolet Impala through the Colleges. Campus Safety followed the car until Claremont police officers arrived. Mr. Sedillo is accused of approaching a woman on August 19 as she left her dorm room, asking her out on a date and exposing his erect penis to her when she said no. Mr. Sedillo was taken to CPD jail on an indecent exposure charge.

Another man was arrested for indecent exposure after flashing someone in the Motel 6 parking lot. A witness observed 30-year-old Jorje Oliveros-Rivas lying in the back seat of his car with his pants down at his thighs around 12:16 p.m. When the witness told him to leave, Mr. Oliveros-Rivas reportedly began masturbating, Lt. Ciszek said. He moved his car to an adjacent parking lot in front of Denny’s, where he was located and arrested.

A transient was arrested on a robbery charge after he attacked a woman waiting at a bus stop. Around 9:16 p.m., 57-year-old Alireza Anvari asked for money from the 38-year-old woman as she sat at the stop on the corner of Foothill and Indian Hill Boulevards, police said. After she said no, Mr. Anvari allegedly became angry, demanding money and trying to take two cat carriers away from the victim. The victim ran across the street, attempting to stop passing cars to help her, and Mr. Anvari chased her until officers arrived and arrested him.
