The days of darkness in the Vons shopping center on Base Line and Mills are coming to an end.

The city has been working with the property manager to install new high-efficiency LED lighting, according to last week’s city manager’s report. The lights have been ordered and are expected to be installed in August, the city says.

The installation was borne from complaints from citizens regarding the dimness of the lighting throughout the center. The new lights will allow for better visibility at night, as well as a more even distribution of light throughout the parking lot, the city says.
