Tuesday, May 9

Two people were arrested after getting caught with drugs. A witness called police and informed them that two people were “smoking crack” in a car on the 800 block of west Bonita Avenue, according to police logs. When officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Sadie Loud of Covina and 41-year-old Kiwanis Willis of Rancho Cucamonga. Mr. Willis was in possession of a hypodermic needle as well as meth, and Ms. Loud was in possession of needles. Both were arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Wednesday, May 10

A bicyclist called police after he was reportedly attacked by a driver while stopped at a red light. The cyclist told police that while on his way to work in the morning, he swerved out of the bike lane to avoid debris, according to police logs. While stopped at a red light at the intersection of Claremont and Foothill Boulevards, an elderly man allegedly got out of his car, pushed the cyclist and “lightly punched him on his arm,” the log stated. There was no report written on the incident.

Thursday, May 11

A washing machine was stolen from a home on the 600 block of Sycamore Drive. Between January 4 and May 11, the thief broke into the home and made off with a white full-size Kenmore washer, which was valued at around $600, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department. There is no suspect information or leads.

An unidentified thief had a rough time trying to break into a home on the 100 block of Annapolis, breaking three windows on a set of French doors on the back of the property, Lt. Ciszek said. The burglar was eventually successful in prying open a window to the master bedroom. Several rooms in the home were ransacked, and an unknown amount of items were taken. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department.

Officers responded to Auto Center Drive around 1:24 a.m. after 49-year-old Dau Duong of Ontario made several calls to police. When officers arrived, Mr. Duong reportedly tried to walk away from officers and resisted arrest when they tried to detain him, Lt. Ciszek said. Mr. Duong’s cousin, 54-year-old Michael Hy of Rosemead, then appeared on the scene to reportedly give Mr. Duong a phone charger, Lt. Ciszek said. A consented search of Mr. Hy’s car revealed a meth pipe. Both men were arrested and sent to CPD jail.

Friday, May 12

A Pomona woman was arrested for DUI after blocking the roadway on Mills Avenue and Sixth Street. Police were called around 10:38 p.m. and found 23-year-old Precious Peralta’s car blocking the driveway entrance to Mills Avenue, Lt. Ciszek said. She displayed clear signs of drunkenness, and was found to be driving without a license. Ms. Peralta was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Saturday, May 13

Witnesses called police around 4 p.m. after 34-year-old Jazan Anthony was seen riding his bike on Arrow Highway and “looking at houses,” Lt. Ciszek said. Mr. Anthony fled when officers arrived and hid in a backyard. Police eventually detained him and during a search found property that was reported stolen from Upland 12 days prior. Mr. Anthony, a Fontana resident, was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Sunday, May 14

Police were called to Wheeler Park after a witness claimed a man was selling drugs in the area. Around 10:30 p.m., police found 65-year-old Jerry Schlesinger of Pomona asleep in the front seat of his car with a large knife and a meth pipe in his lap, Lt. Ciszek said. Police investigation revealed that he was in possession of meth, heroin and a hypodermic needle. Mr. Schlesinger was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Monday, May 15

A call regarding a suspicious vehicle led to the arrest of four Pomona residents on drug charges and warrants. A witness called police around 11:11 a.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in front of Motel 6 on South Indian Hill Boulevard with a lot of people milling around, Lt. Ciszek said. When officers arrived, they discovered four people with meth, meth pipes and warrants. Ronald Trammel, 44, was arrested for possession of meth and a pipe; Gabriel Guerra, 41, was arrested for possession of a meth pipe and a warrant; Amanda Guerra, 32, was arrested for possession of a meth pipe and 18-year-old Angelica Parker was arrested for possession of a meth pipe and a warrant.
