Police blotter 5-12-17

Tuesday, May 2

Between 11:15 a.m. and 1:35 p.m., a thief entered a house on the 500 block of west Ninth Street by removing a screen door to a window and ransacking several rooms in the home, leaving with a wallet containing credit cards, an unknown amount of cash and other items, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department. The thief fled undetected.

Extra Space Storage was once again the victim of a burglary. Between 5:30 p.m. on May 2 and 7:30 a.m. on May 3, the unknown burglar entered an unlocked building on the 500 block of west Arrow Highway and forced open the doors to three storage units. The thief got away with an unknown amount of items.

Wednesday, May 3

Another burglary took place on the 3700 block of Padua Avenue. Between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., the thief entered through an unlocked rear sliding glass door and ransacked the property, taking $400 in cash and a watch collection with an unknown value. There is no suspect information.

Once again, a burglar targeted a home in Claremont, this time on the 1400 block of north Mills Avenue. The burglar reportedly kicked open the home’s front door and ruffled through multiple rooms, also taking $400 in cash. A witness reported seeing a newer-model black Hyundai four-door sedan driven by an African-American man leaving the scene.

Friday, May 5

A La Verne woman was arrested after police found drugs in her car during a traffic stop. A car driven by 26-year-old Jennifer Enderle was pulled over near the intersection of Berkeley and Bonita Avenues around 12:09 a.m. Officers discovered she had an active warrant out of San Bernardino County and, during a search, found a hypodermic syringe in plain sight on the front passenger seat, multiple syringes in a bag and a red balloon full of heroin. Ms. Enderle was arrested and transported to jail, where she was later released with a ticket.

Police arrested two men and two juveniles after catching them in a stolen car. Around 2 p.m., Claremont police picked up on a car around the intersection of Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue that was reported stolen by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The driver was identified as 23-year-old David Soto of Upland and a passenger was identified as 19-year-old Erick Siordia of Upland. Two juveniles, 16- and 17-year-old males, were also in the car at the time. During a search, police found several items that were reported stolen, according to Lt. Ciszek. Mr. Soto was arrested for possession of a stolen car and possession of stolen property, Mr. Siordia was arrested for possession of burglary tools and stolen property. The two juveniles were arrested for possession of stolen property.

Saturday, May 6

Two men were arrested in the Village on gun charges. Police pulled over a car that failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Fourth Street and Harvard Avenue around 11:25 p.m. The driver, 23-year-old Devante Ford of Pomona, was reportedly in possession of two loaded Smith and Wesson handguns in the glove box. Mr. Ford was also allegedly in possession of a plastic bag containing Alprazolam, more commonly known as Xanax. A passenger in the car, 18-year-old Rodney Johnson of Pomona, had been convicted in January of carrying a loaded firearm. Mr. Ford and Mr. Johnson were arrested. A third passenger in the car was released at the scene.
