Police blotter 5-5-17

Monday, April 24

Police are looking for whoever stole a Walther PPQ semi-automatic handgun from a home on the 1000 block of Belmont Abbey. The homeowner stated that between April 4 and April 24, the gun and the case it was stored in went missing, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department. The homeowner had recently moved into the house and used a moving company. The value of the gun was estimated around $800.

Thursday, April 27

A road rage incident on the freeway turned into a scary situation when one driver followed another home and brandished a knife. The incident started on the westbound 210 freeway in Rancho Cucamonga, when one driver cut another one off. The victim drove to the 1400 block of Morton Circle around 2:20 p.m. when the other driver in a black Honda Accord confronted him, showing a black knife. The unidentified man then fled in an unknown direction. He is described as an African-American man in his 40s, five feet, 10 inches tall and 210 pounds.

Saturday, April 29

The Whisper House once again fell victim to vandals in the parking structure. Around 10:30 p.m., unidentified vandals dropped raw eggs from the top of the structure to the patio of the restaurant, damaging a $250 coat and a $450 bench cushion. The vandals were not found.

Sunday, April 30

A Pomona man was arrested on a drunk and disorderly charge in the Village. Police responded to the corner of Second Street and Yale Avenue—the tail end of the weekly farmer’s market—around 11:52 a.m. after 21-year-old Darwin Zavala was observed yelling and pushing another person. Mr. Zavala was reportedly showing signs of being drunk, and he told police he had three Budweiser beers the night before. Mr. Zavala was arrested. Claremont police also temporarily housed the arrestee’s dog, which was with him at the time.

An Upland woman was arrested after she was found lying in the middle of Foothill Boulevard. Police found 24-year-old Rebekah Hendrick lying in the right lane of the westbound side of Foothill around 6:30 p.m. She showed clear signs of being drunk and she told police she was drinking at a restaurant earlier in the day. She was arrested and spent the evening in jail to sober up.

Police are investigating a garage burglary at an apartment complex on the 300 block of Springfield. The unidentified thief entered the garage around 9:15 a.m. and got away with around $1,300 worth of medical equipment and a $50 tent. While the victim’s garage door was locked, it reportedly shared a space with other garage doors that many have been unlocked. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department.

Monday, May 1

Police arrested a man who exposed himself at the Metrolink station and made criminal threats to officers. Police were called to the platform around 6:15 a.m. after 33-year-old Osman Sanabria of Los Angeles reportedly pulled his pants and underwear down while people were present. When police arrived, Mr. Sanabria allegedly told them, “I want to sock you. You ain’t gonna do s**t. Come on b***h, you think I’m scared?” He was arrested and sent to CPD jail.

Tuesday, May 2

A Fontana man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance after he claimed he was being followed. Police responded to Norm’s on Indian Hill Boulevard and Auto Center Drive around 12:45 a.m. to find 28-year-old Adrien Norwood making claims that “several vehicles” were following him, Lt. Ciszek said. After running some tests, the officers concluded that he was under the influence of a controlled substance, and he was arrested. There was no evidence of any car following him.
