Tuesday, February 21
An Ontario man was arrested for DUI after misjudging the curve on Harrison Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard. The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m., when a car driven by 25-year-old George Contreras, traveling southbound on Indian Hill, failed to turn left at the curve and hit the curb, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek of the Claremont Police Department. When officers arrived, they noticed Mr. Contreras was too drunk to be driving, and he was arrested for driving under the influence.

A man and a woman were arrested on human trafficking charges after one of their victims called police from the lobby of Motel 6. The 17-year-old girl called police just after 11 p.m. and said she and a 15-year-old girl were physically assaulted and being forced into prostitution from the motel. Police arrived and arrested 44-year-old Mario Stevens from Long Beach and 44-year-old Tracey Sims from Moreno Valley. Mr. Stevens and Ms. Sims were arrested on charges of human trafficking, child abuse and outstanding warrants.
Wednesday, February 22
Police arrested a Pomona man after he tried to shoplift nearly $300 worth of alcohol and shrimp from Super King. An employee reportedly noticed 56-year-old Derrick Holland place the items into his backpack around 8:30 a.m. The employee confronted Mr. Holland at the front of the store, and the items were recovered. In all, Mr. Holland tried to shoplift five Hennessey cognac bottles worth $160, a $38 bottle of Tequila, two bottles of Bombay Sapphire worth $60, and two bags of raw shrimp worth $40. Mr. Holland was arrested.

A second person has been arrested in connection with a burglary case from February 2. Eric Corbus, 35, from Glendora, was arrested at his home around 9:30 a.m. Claremont police allege Mr. Corbus was the getaway driver during a burglary on the 600 block of Huron Drive. Following the burglary, the victim discovered the stolen items being sold online, and the CPD conducted a sting operation, which led to the arrest of 33-year-old Brandon Petersen at a U-Haul Self-Storage in Glendora. Mr. Corbus has been charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.
Thursday, February 24
Police are looking for whoever broke into a home on the 4400 block of St. Cloud. The burglary occurred around 8:30 p.m., when the thieves reportedly shattered a rear window and ransacked the home, Lt. Ciszek said. The homeowners were on vacation at the time, and it is currently unknown what was stolen from the home. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.

Police arrested a Claremont man after he was caught in the act of stealing a bike in the Colleges. Samuel Kraemer-Dahlin, 27, was discovered by Campus Safety trying to cut the cable of a bike on the 500 block of North College Avenue just before 3 p.m. Mr. Kraemer-Dahlin ran off, but was eventually found hiding behind a shed on Harvard Avenue and was taken into custody.

A 20-year-old Claremont man was arrested for being drunk in public after getting kicked out of Eureka Burger. Officers responded to the restaurant just after 1 a.m. regarding a man who was kicking the door and refusing to leave. They found Aaron Lengyel lying on the ground in front of an adjacent business. When officers spoke to Mr. Lengyel, they noticed he was exhibiting telltale signs of drunkenness. He also reportedly presented officers with a fake ID he used to buy alcohol from the restaurant. Mr. Lengyel was arrested and transported to jail.
Friday, February 25
A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested for being drunk in public after he banged on the front and back door of a home at 1:30 a.m. Alex Conifer-Macias, 22, was found knocking on the front door of the home on the 500 block of West Twelfth Street when police arrived. During questioning, Mr. Conifer-Macias apparently thought he was knocking on the door of a friend’s house in Rancho Cucamonga. His speech was slurred, and he had trouble standing up without assistance from officers, so he was arrested to spend the night in the CPD drunk tank.
Saturday, February 26
Yet another drunk man was arrested at Piano Piano following a fight in the parking lot. When officers arrived at the watering hole, they found Steve Carrillo, 31, of East Palmdale, surrounded by security guards. Mr. Carrillo claimed he had just been in a fight with another person, but was unable to locate or identify any suspects. Mr. Carrillo was reportedly emanating a strong odor of alcohol, and was arrested for public intoxication.
