Support local nonprofits by shopping in the Village on Tuesday
Twenty-eight Claremont Village businesses will donate a portion of proceeds to a nonprofit on #GivingTuesday, November 29.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday aims to kick off the holiday giving season and to inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities and give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support.
Currently more than 45,000 corporate and nonprofit organizations in over 71 countries have participated in the initiative.
On #GivingTuesday, participating Claremont Village businesses will each be paired with a local nonprofit, spreading the holiday giving spirit across the downtown shopping district.
On Tuesday, November 29, participating businesses will donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to the nonprofit they are hosting and provide them with a venue to fundraise and share information about their cause. At a time of Black Friday and Cyber Monday frenzy, #GivingTuesday provides the opportunity for holiday shoppers to give back.
Supporters are invited to share on social media about their favorite local causes with the hashtags #GivingTuesday, #ClaremontVillage and #unselfie.
