As the dog days of summer wind down in Claremont, the scent of freshly-sharpened pencils and the anticipation of new classmates become the things students begin to think about.

As school draws closer, registration dates and back-to-school nights become the norm for parents and, hopefully, cause less anxiety than the eventful 10 months that students must prepare for, beginning on August 31.

For Sumner-Danbury Elementary, Tuesday, August 23 is a busy day for the little ones. Both transitional-kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten students will have their observations during the morning, from 9 to 11 a.m. On Thursday, August 25, kindergarten students have orientation from 9 to 10 a.m., while TK students’ meet from 10 to 11 a.m. On Wednesday August 31, students in grades 4-6 have their back-to-school night from 1 to 3 p.m. TK-3 grade students’ back-to-school night will be hosted on Tuesday, September 6 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All of these events are at the Sumner school site.

Chaparral will host new student orientation on Thursday, August 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. On Tuesday, August 30, kindergarten orientation will be held from 8:05 to 9:05 a.m. For back-to-school night, kindergarten to third grade families will meet Tuesday, September 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Students in grades 4-6 will have their back-to-school night the following evening, on Wednesday, September 21, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

For Sycamore Elementary, all class assignments will beposted by 5 p.m. on  Monday, August 29. Back-to-school night is Wednesday, August 31—kindergarteners and first graders from 5:30 to 6:25 p.m., second and third graders from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., and fourth through sixth graders from 7:20 to 8 p.m.

For all Condit students, classes will be posted by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 26. On Tuesday, August 30, kindergarteners and new families will have orientations; kindergarten students will meet from 2 to 2:30 p.m., and new family orientation is from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Back-to-school night is Wednesday, August 31 for all grades. Kindergarten through first grade students back-to-schoolnight is from 6 to 6:30 p.m., second and third graders from 6:50 to 7:20 p.m., and fourth through sixth graders from 7:25 to 8 p.m.

For all Mountain View, Oakmont and Vista del Valle Elementary schools, back-to-school night  will be held at each campus on Tuesday, August 30. Mountain View is from 5 to 7 p.m., while both Vista and Oakmont Elementary is from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, August 23, El Roble Intermediate will host the eighth grade registration during the morning and early afternoon. Seventh grade registration is onn Wednesday, August 24, with new student orientation on Thursday, August 25. El Roble back to school night is Wednesday, September 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

For San Antonio High School and Community Day School, back-to-school night is on Wednesday, September 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Claremont High School will host registration the week of Aug 22 to 26 at the school; seniors register on Monday, August 22; juniors on Tuesday, August 23; sophomores on Wednesday, August 24; and freshmen on Thursday, August 25. Registration hours for each day are 8 to 11:30 a.m. Freshmen orientation is Wednesday, August 25 from 5 to 7 p.m., and all make-up registration will take place Friday, August 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. Back-to-school night for CHS will be held on Wednesday, September 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
