New permit parking installations adjacent to wilderness park
The city will install new residential permit parking signs on Deep Springs Drive, Peninsula Avenue, Strasbourg Court, Grand Avenue between Mt. Baldy Road and Peninsula Avenue and Alamosa Drive between Mills Avenue and Grand Avenue.
The Claremont City Council approved the parking restrictions at its May 10 meeting as a part of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park Final Master and Implementation Plans.
Once the signs are in place, the Claremont Police Department will enforce this new residential permit parking zone, which will be in effect from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week. Only vehicles displaying the appropriate placards will be allowed to park during these hours.
Drivers parked within these residential permit parking zones during these times, without displaying the residential permit placard, will be issued citations.
Visitors to the wilderness park are directed to park within the two available parking lots near the park entrance. Permit parking is available in the Thompson Creek parking lot on the northeast corner of Mills Avenue and Mt. Baldy Road, as well as the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park parking lot, which is adjacent to the park’s entrance. Parking in the Thompson Creek lot requires either a resident or annual permit or payment at the parking meter located within the lot.
Parking in the northerly Claremont Hill Wilderness Park parking lot requires either display of an annual permit or payment at the parking meter located within the lot.
Resident and annual visitor permits are available at the Claremont City Hall, 207 N. Harvard Ave., and the Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd.
