Marjorie “Margi” Ruth Sullivan of Rancho Cucamonga and later Bradbury died on June 10, 2016 at Citrus Valley Hospice Center of West Covina. She was 77 years old.

She was born to John and Elizabeth Higgins of Omaha, Nebraska on December 15, 1938. She was the second youngest of nine children and is survived by seven siblings and their families.

Margi grew up in Omaha and graduated from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. She later attended Duchesne College where she majored in French. She met the love of her life, Jim Sullivan, who was a medical student at Creighton University and they were married on September 3, 1960.

The couple raised their three children in Rancho Cucamonga, and Dr. Sullivan worked in a family medical practice in Upland with his father Walt and brother John, providing care for the community for generations. While raising a family, Mrs. Sullivan received her Master’s in Education and a teaching credential from the University of Redlands. The Sullivans were dedicated parishioners of St. Joseph Church in Upland for more than 45 years. Jim served as a Eucharistic Minister and when her children attended St. Joseph School, Margi taught Catechism and Spanish.

Mrs. Sullivan lived a vibrant, elegant and, above all, joyous life. She treasured her family, friends, faith and great books. She was a lifetime member of The Claremont Club and a passionate tennis player. Her other hobbies included daily walks, entertaining, gardening and countless activities with her four grandchildren. Mrs. Sullivan had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to laugh at the everyday nuances of life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be terribly missed.

Margi is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim and, as family shared, “They will now be celebrating their 56th anniversary together in heaven.”

They are survived by their three children, Jamie, Judy and Susie, their daughter-in-law Maura and their four grandchildren Nicolas, Isabella, Michael and Meghan.

At Mrs. Sullivan’s request, a private memorial mass will be held for her children and grandchildren. Interment will be private. Donations in Margi’s name may be made to the Presentation Sisters in Upland or City of Hope Hospital in Duarte.
