Thursday, May 12

Once again, always remember to lock your doors when you leave your car. An unlocked car was broken into in the Packing House parking garage, the thief making off with over $400 in goods. The theft happened between 8:15 a.m. and 4:20 p.m., to a car parked on the second floor of the structure, according to Lt. Mike Ciszek. Among the items stolen were a portable battery charger, cloth bags, a pair of Coach slippers and an ID card. The total value was $440. A Perris woman was arrested after trying to shoplift deodorant from the Stater Bros on Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. Rosemary Johnson, 61, was seen by employees trying to stuff several deodorants into a bag and leave without paying. Several employees caught her and the police were called. During an investigation, a glass pipe was found in Ms. Johnson’s possession and a warrant was found on her record. She was arrested for shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia and was transported to CPD jail.

Friday, May 13

An unknown person reportedly left a threatening voicemail for an Ontario teacher early Friday morning. The victim received the voicemail at 12:55 a.m. on the 500 block of College Avenue. The victim, who teaches at Colony High School in Ontario, claimed the person who left the message said he would lock two of his co-workers in a dungeon and cook and eat the victim, according to Lt. Ciszek. The victim did not know the person who left the message. The threatening message came one day after Colony High School was reportedly placed on lockdown over criminal threats. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Claremont Police Department.

Monday, May 16

Police are on the lookout after a homeowner noticed a suspected burglar in his backyard Monday morning. The incident took place at 9:39 a.m. on the 700 block of west Eleventh Street. The victim was home at the time and noticed a man peering into his window. When the owner began to walk outside, the suspected burglar walked away, jumped over a wall and ran in an unknown direction. The intruder is described as an African-American male, around 25 years old, 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds, wearing a purple or violet hooded sweatshirt.
