Three residential burglaries reported in north Claremont

Claremont police report two residential burglaries and one additional attempted burglary on Wednesday, March 23 in Claremont.

A resident on the 700 block of Wellesley Drive heard someone knocking on his front door at 7 p.m. but he did not answer the door. Moments later, the resident saw two black males in their early 20s attempting to force open his rear glass sliding door. The resident scared off the suspects and they fled in an awaiting vehicle. The car was described only as a dark colored 4-door sedan. The police department was not notified until 20 to 30 minutes after it occurred.

Shortly after that incident, at 8:40 p.m., Claremont police officers responded to the 600 block of Valparaiso regarding a residential burglary. The suspects broke a bathroom window, made entry and ransacked the home. There was no suspect information.

While officers were investigating the burglary on Valparaiso, a resident in the 700 block of Via San Simon called at 9:30 p.m. and said that his home had just been burglarized and the suspects fled in a silver 4-door Lexus with tinted windows. There was no license plate seen. Officers were on scene within one minute. An area search was conducted with the assistance of Ontario Police Department’s helicopter, but the suspects and the vehicle were not located. The residents had just arrived home from dinner while the suspects were still in the residence. The suspects ran out of the house into an awaiting vehicle, which was parked in front of their home. The suspects were described as three males wearing hooded sweaters and hats. A handgun and jewelry were reported stolen from the home.
