Foothill Country Day School will host an intimate assembly on Friday, June 5 to honor Eleanor Pierson, the school’s longest-serving member of the faculty. Mrs. Pierson, who has worked at Foothill Country Day for 50 years, is retiring.
Mrs. Pierson, 94, has been a long-time member of the Claremont community.

A graduate of Pomona College (1941), Mrs. Pierson received the Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 2003. In addition to various philanthropic pursuits, she was also known for her avid tennis game at the Claremont Community Country Club.

In 1954, Mrs. Pierson became one of the founding parents at FCDS, and in 10 years was on staff. In her roles—first as assistant to headmaster Howell Webb, then as director of admissions and finally as community outreach coordinator—Mrs. Pierson attracted a mix of qualified students. In 2010, the Eleanor Pierson Scholarship Fund was established to provide tuition for students in need.
