The annual City Council Priorities Workshop will be held on Saturday, February 7, beginning at 8 a.m. in Council Chambers at Claremont City Hall. During the workshop, city staff will update city council on the progress of ongoing projects and programs as well as present new items for council discussion. The council will discuss each priority item, identify new items and provide policy direction to city staff.

Economic development, financial stability, local water issues, public safety, quality of life issues and sustainability are among the priorities to be reviewed and discussed by council.

Other items up for discussion include bicycle programs and regulations, business license fees, major capital project funding, veteran’s housing project, Shelton Park and city hall landscaping as well as new concepts and ideas related to sustainability.

As the council deliberates and develops the 2015 priority list, they will take into consideration city staff resources available to work on priority projects in the context of other projects, day to day operations and major undertakings. Major undertakings planned for 2015 include the Claremont water system acquisition process, MS4 stormwater management, Wilderness Park Master Plan, and economic development projects.

The Council Priority Workshop is also an opportunity for individual councilmembers to place issues or initiatives before the council for discussion.

The workshop is open to the public and resident feedback is welcomed during public comment. For those unable to attend, the City Council 2015 Priority Workshop will stream live on the city’s website.
