Residential no-burn alert in Claremont today
A residential no-burn alert will be in effect today, Tuesday, January 20, in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Claremont and Los Angeles County, Orange County and the Inland Empire, because of a forecast of fine particle air pollution, the South Coast Air Quality Management District said.
Under the alert by the SCAQMD, residents are barred from burning wood in fireplaces throughout the day.
“No-burn alerts are mandatory in order to protect public health due to a high concentration of fine particle air pollution forecast for the area,” according to the SCAQMD. “The no-burn prohibition also applies to manufactured fire logs, such as those made from wax or paper.”
