CUSD public meetings to discuss surplus properties
On Thursday, December 13 at 4:30 p.m. the first of 2 public hearings will be held in the boardroom of the Richard S. Kirkendall Education Center, 170 W. San Jose Ave. in Claremont, regarding the district’s future plans for 2 pieces of surplus property.
The first of these is approximately 3.5 acres located at 700 W. Base Line Rd. The property is commonly recognized as the district’s maintenance yard, which housed school buses and trucks. The yard is located just east of the former district property, which was sold to homebuilder DR Horton for $6.2 million at a public auction held on February 28. At a meeting held earlier that month, the CUSD board identified 3 priorities they planned to fund via proceeds of the property’s sale. These included the Claremont High School Theatre Renovation Project, CUSD’s technology update and the facility health and safety needs of the district. The second property, about 9.7 acres known as La Puerta, is located at 2475 N. Forbes Ave.
A second hearing regarding each of these properties will be held at the Kirkendall Center on Tuesday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m.
