Hilda Benson-Trop
Hilda Benson-Trop, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, died on August 17, 2012.
Ms. Trop was born to James and Madeline Comeau in Massachusetts on September 3, 1927 and was the eldest of 5 children.
She came to Claremont from Massachusetts in the 1950s. She was married to Jerry Benson from 1955 to 1975, then to Herman Trop from 1984 to 2005. She had 3 sons and one daughter.
Ms. Trop was a devoted mom and homemaker, according to her family, and loved to read, dance, play games and go camping. She also loved to listen to music from the 1950s and 1960s, and her favorite movie was The Sound of Music.
Ms. Trop was known for her great sense of humor and contagious laugh. She lived in Claremont until 2007, when she moved into an assisted living facility in San Clemente as she suffered from dementia.
Ms. Trop was predeceased by her husband, Herman Trop. She is survived by her sons, Kenny and James; by her daughter, Linda; by her sister, Elaine; and by her grandsons, Kevin and Scotty.
The family expresses that she will be greatly missed.
