Friday, April 20: FREE CONCERT East Los Angeles Chicano rock band Quetzal will perform a free concert as part of the Levitt on the Lawn at Scripps College concert series presented by Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts. Quetzal is a politically-aware rock band that narrates through song the stories of the struggle for economic and social justice. Dinner will be available for purchase on the lawn for $8.75, picnic dinners are also welcome. 5:30 p.m. Bowling Green on the Scripps College campus, 1030 Columbia Ave., Claremont. 607-9372.
Saturday, April 21: EARTH DAY CELEBRATION produced by Sustainable Claremont, Claremont Interfaith Council on Sustainability and the City of Claremont. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event features exhibits and more on Second Street, west from Yale Avenue to Oberlin.
Sunday, April 22: ARTISAN FAIR Fair Trade Claremont will host an Artisan Fair with items supplied from over 20 countries featuring jewelry, baskets, scarves, home accents and specialty foods. Products are supplied by Catholic Relief Services, an international nonprofit agency that promotes human dignity in the workplace and assists the world’s poor in becoming self-sufficient. 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Our Lady of the Assumption Church auditorium, 435 Berkeley Ave., Claremont. 626-7849.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. Contains collections of international fine art, folk art and material culture from 10,000 B.C. to the present contributed by Pilgrim Place residents and community friends—covering every continent. 399-5544.
—April 20 through September 2: “Celebrating the Traditional and Modern Arts of Japan.” Opening Reception: Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring taiko drummers, kendo swordsmen, shakuhachi (flute) and koto duet, and a lecture/demonstration on Kabuki, Kyogen and Noh theater arts. Temporary display of bonsai and ikebana (floral arranging) and other items as well as children’s activities like origami, Japanese calligraphy and paper dyeing. A $6 bento box lunch will be served between 12 and 1 p.m.
